Tool-control

Tool Control is the collective name for systems for storing and issuing tools and accessories based on traceability and checkability. The system has been in use for some time in the medical world, and is now also mandatory in the aviation industry. Particularly traceability plays a crucial role here; it is necessary to establish with certainty that all tools and parts are removed from the aircraft and/or engine after repair or modification. 

Silhouettes of all tools are cut out of a foam layer in 2 or 3 dimensions, with a carrier or base in a bright contrasting colour. An identification symbol is also engraved into this carrier. Any omission is thus immediately noticed and identified. In our showroom we can present a number of versions of Tool Control, checked issue systems and access control. 

MAGEMA B.V. has extensive experience of Tool Control and has recommended and fully implemented various systems at customers including all the Dutch airlines and the Dutch Royal Air Force. 

A Tool Control programme broadly includes the following stages and is set up and realised in close consultation with the customer.

• Assembly of the tool set and storage medium
• Scanning or drawing the tools or other parts
• Defining the layout per drawer (or other storage medium)
• Making a PDF drawing of this layout, incl. parts list
• After approval by the customer, making a prototype inlay
• After releasing this prototype, production of the inlays
• Possibility to assemble and fully populate the sets
